The wild date palms of the Negev and the Arabah are rare survivors of thousands of years of a unique and mutually beneficial coexistence with the desert\u2019s human inhabitants.
The collection is based on the research of University of Haifa scholars, led by Prof. Guy Bar-Oz, in collaboration with researchers from other institutions, including Dr. Roy Galili.
The collection tells the story of the date palm from its central role in the lives of the Arava\u2019s inhabitants over thousands of years to the importance of conserving the remaining wild date palm populations today. The collection is open to the university community and the general public, it invites visitors to discover how archaeological finds, nature photography, and contemporary research come together to tell a single story of landscape, culture, and heritage.<\/p>
