Architect Yohanan Mintzker collection
The Library is pleased to present a new collection from the archive of the late architect Yohanan Mintzker. The collection was transferred to the Library courtesy of architect Mintzker’s sons, with the assistance of Prof. Yuval Ben-Bassat from the Department of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies.
The collection features unique photographs taken by architect Mintzker immediately after the liberation of Jerusalem during the Six-Day War. These photographs provide rare documentation of the city and the Western Wall Plaza, a project for whose preservation and restoration he was responsible. The collection also includes numerous architectural drawings, as well as architect Mintzker’s doctoral dissertation, written in Italy, which focuses on access routes to the Old City of Jerusalem.
This unique collection has attracted considerable interest within the Department of Architecture and the School of Design. We also invite members of the public with knowledge of and interest in architecture to assist us in expanding and enriching the documentation and information related to the various items in the collection.
