Citation rules

What is a citation?

A citation is basic information required to identify and locate a specific publication (book, book chapter, article, website, video, etc.).

What is a citation style?

A citation style is a system of rules relating to how sources should be recorded and referenced in academic writing. Whenever referring to someone else’s publication, a citation must be used to avoid literary theft. Different academic disciplines have specific guidelines for organizing material and citing sources. The citation method should conform to one of the methods, and consistency in recording should be maintained.
